Can you choose to let the trigger resolve before an instant instead of going ahead of it on the stack by playing a card. In my instance I have 3 mana 1 island 1 1 plains 1 forbidden orchard. I use opt on his turn and dig for a miracle and then cast devastation tide with the orchard and the plains. Can I make it so hes not left with a token, so devastation tide resolves after the land trigger not before.

Mana abilities (such as Forbidden Orchard's) do not use the stack and cannot be responded to. Furthermore, Forbidden Orchard's triggered ability will trigger as soon as you tap it for mana and would resolve even if the mana ability did not for some reason. So, when you tap Forbidden Orchard to pay for Devastation Tide, your opponent immediately gets the 1/1 spirit token. Then, you can play Devastation Tide which will remove the token your opponent just received.
