As long as Colossus of Akros is monstrous, it has trample and can attack as though it didn't have defender.

Official Rulings for Colossus of Akros

9/15/2013 : Colossus of Akros doesn’t lose defender when it’s monstrous. It’s just able to attack.

9/15/2013 : Once a creature becomes monstrous, it can’t become monstrous again. If the creature is already monstrous when the monstrosity ability resolves, nothing happens.

9/15/2013 : Monstrous isn’t an ability that a creature has. It’s just something true about that creature. If the creature stops being a creature or loses its abilities, it will continue to be monstrous.

9/15/2013 : An ability that triggers when a creature becomes monstrous won’t trigger if that creature isn’t on the battlefield when its monstrosity ability resolves.

I wouldn't say overpowered. It's gonna be a bomb in limited, but I don't think it'll see play in Standard or any other competitive format. It'll definitely see play in EDH though.

Please stop posting this on EVERY card. Seriously. It's 18 mana for a 10/10 Indestructible with Trample. By the time you can even play this card you should have won the game or you're doing it wrong.

I know monstrosity is a new mtg ability/function but, it's 18 mana for a 20/20 indestructible with trample and it's 8 mana for a 10/10 indestructible defender... which could definitely be broken with the right cards (like maybe some sort of grand architect deck). I think it could potentially be bent inside of format as well but probably wont see standard play much.
